Get an inside look at some of the hottest spa products on the market today! Each year, new beauty and wellness products are evaluated at the EX*TRACTS show, with awards given in five different categories. Criteria for each award includes innovative design, creative use of materials/construction and use of new materials/technology. Here are the winners!
The winners and finalists were:
Best of Show:
Danielle and Company, from Clarks Summit, Pennsylvania, for its Organic Soap Garden, an all-in-one sustainable gift that comes complete with organic soil and a biodegradable planter and saucer, made from grain and rice by-products and filled with organic soaps and body washes.
Bath & Body Category:
Winner: Honeycat Cosmetics, from New York, for its Chick of the Sea/Foaming Crystals, presented in recyclable sardine cans. The skin-softening bath crystals are available in chocolate and mint flavors and provide foam for the duration of a bath.
Finalist: Do Not Disturb, Inc., from Alpharetta, Georgia, for its foaming bath salts.
Finalist: Tact Beauty Care, from New York, for Discover the World Brazil, a cocoa body scrub.
Beauty Accessory Category:
Winner: Tassi by Whats Hot! Inc., from Woodbury, New York, a patented product that makes it easy keep hair away from the face while washing, showering, bathing and applying make-up. The terry cloth headband, designed with a wider back to hold without flattening hair, is available in 12 colors.
Finalist: Oka B, from Buford, Georgia, for its Caroline shoe, made with proprietary Microplast technology.
Finalist: Honeycat Cosmetics, from New York, for its Oops! Pack.
Cosmetic & Fragrance Category:
Winner: Joya by A Candle in the Wind, from New York, for its Perfume in Porcelain, a scented candle and fragrance diffuser collection in porcelain vessels with illustrated motifs. The fragrance blends are exquisite, while the porcelain pieces are non-porous, stable conductors of heat.
Finalist: Mommy Makeup, from New York, for its Any Wear Crème.
Finalist: THE BALM, from San Francisco, for its Two-Timer Mascara.
Natural/Organic Category:
Winner: European Soaps, Ltd., from Seattle, Washington, for its Bite Be Gone, a dual action product with mosquito repellant cream to prevent bites and an after bite balm to relieve itching.
Finalist: Sonoma Lavender, from Santa Rosa, California, for its lavender heated spa collection in recycled cotton.
Finalist: The Kala Corporation, from Cranston, Rhode Island, for its "Mama Coco" lip balms.
Packaging Category:
Winner: THE BALM, from San Francisco, for its Read My Lips Lipstick, featuring a creamy formula packed with vitamin A, E, olive oil and jojoba. The lipsticks - named after newspaper sections - are discreetly packaged in newspaper print tubes, and are 100% recyclable.
Finalist: Nature's Essence, from South San Francisco, California, for its Bamboo Collection, packaged in a reusable gift box.
Finalist: Sohum Cosmetics, from Melbourne, Australia, for its Parade Perfumed Candle.
